Dr. Jessica Semper spent half her childhood growing up on the Saskatchewan prairies, and the other half on Vancouver Island’s east coast. Her love for all things ‘horse’ was sparked when her family moved to an acreage on the outskirts of Nanaimo. Jessica graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in June, 2017. She spent her first year in practice interning at Burwash Equine Services in Alberta where she had the opportunity to work with and learn from some exceptional equine clinicians.
Upon completion of her internship in June 2018, Dr. Semper returned home to Vancouver Island to practice alongside her friends and mentors, Dr. Tyler Stitt and Dr. Bettina Bobsein. Ultimately, Jessica sees herself as a mixed animal practitioner, combining farm animal medicine with her love of equine and small animal work. Jessica is passionate about how veterinary medicine can be used to serve people who depend on animals for their livelihood, and plans to integrate as much over-seas work into her career as she can. Outside of work, Jessica loves adventuring outdoors with her family and friends, as well as her 4-legged pals – her mare Lyric, and her dog, Trill.
